and i could not be more thrilled. after having three days off in a row, it will be good to get back to work for a rest! we went to that ginormous costco on wednesday, what a place that is. we had a good trip. one thing, they only accept cash, debit and american express credit cards. we have not got an american express credit card. apparently, amex* and costco* have an arrangement, so amex* is the exclusive credit card. ~pfffft!~ that's ok, there was a branch of our bank around the corner so we drew a cash advance off our VISA* card. so it was all good. and for the record, the pictures on our membership cards suck.
the store is huge, and there were quite a few great deals we took advantage of, to the tune of a couple hundred bucks. the pantry is full, the cupboards are full, life is good. one thing, not a big selection of cat stuff, lots of dog goodies, but not for cats. ~hmph~.
we then found room in our economy class car to pack our wares and headed off for supper. no, kerry, we didn't do wendy's...we did find a ponderosa steak house and enjoyed a meal there. then it was homeward bound.
the fun was trying to rearrange the pantry and cupboards to put our stash. being 'master organizer' i did it.
thursday was mom & me day. i headed out and arrived by 930am. mom is sick with a bad chest cold. no good can come from that. she decided not to keep this week's hair appointment, and i just picked up a few things at the local grocer for her. then took her to her doctor appointment at 4pm. the doctor said that she is ok, but he wants to see her next week again. so i will take her. then i made sure that everything was fine, got her settled and headed for home.
and then it is today. we have had super cold temperatures again. presently it is at -18, (-30C with the wind chill factored in). i had some errands to do and mom called with a grocery list (we were going to come in yesterday but she wasn't feeling well), so i picked them up and headed back out to mom's. got the grub put away, made sure she was ok, and headed home. i did have some other stuff to do after i got back to our fair city. and then i had my nap.
k worked today, she got a shift move so she started at 10am. that is a good time to begin. she said there is an echo on her side of the center, alot of the agents are already staffing our side. as avis is phased out, and budget phases in, it will all work out i am sure. i am thankful that we still have jobs. it could have gone the way of so many other call centres...just run for a few years and then close, throwing hundreds of people out of work and back into the unemployment office. it is all about change i guess.
well, the cats are all fine. the cold that seems to have invaded our humble home seems to be subsiding amongst them. there are still a few sneezes with pepe and jake. jess hasn't coughed in about three days so i think she is about through with it. it seems to run about 7-10 days, like your run of the mill human cold. (unless you are prone to chest infections to add to colds, then it is longer).
for those who are enjoying summer (my down under faithfuls), stay cool. for the rest of us who are freezing off parts that should not be cold.....bundle up and take care~
until the next time, my faithfuls~~~~~~~poet.
We ended up getting the AmEx card from Costco, mainly so Fran could get gas there on her way to/from work. it has come in handy for a couple of larger purchases there.
ReplyDeleteWow, and here I was getting a chill when I got home and the room said 68. It's now a very nice 76, under the vent. ;)
ReplyDeleteWe don't have Costco so Sam's is the best we can do. I used to enjoy going there but haven't been in ages.
ReplyDeleteHope things warm up soon and your mom feels better.
