the final day.

dscf0044.jpgdscf0042.jpgdscf0043.jpgdscf0041.jpgyes, folks, t'is the final day of my vacation. although we did not get every task we wanted to completed, we got alot accomplished. k had to go back to work yesterday, which kinda sucked since she got a cold 2 days after i did. which, for the record also sucks for springtime colds are the absolute worst.

we got one out of three bedrooms painted, and it looks smashing. just a bit lighter blue than that of the bathroom. unfortunately, i did not get a picture of the finished product before the boy moved his stuff back in....and privacy laws being what they are in this home, we'll not get a shot until after he moves to his own place.

we did not build a patio as originally contemplated, however, we did manage a planter area in the front yard. complete with rocks and 2 baby blue spruce trees. red cedar mulch stuff completes the look. we'll look into a patio for next summer i think, unless i can get a deal on materials.

yesterday, mom and i went to her hometown for a drive, to visit old neighbours from way back. though we did not stay long, it was enough, and mom was tired, but glad we went. her childhood home is up for sale now. the man who bought it from mom and dad after grampy died, passed away this winter, and his family doesn't want the home. it sure seemed weird walking around the house, and knowing that it was empty.

we got caught up on laundry and a bit of cleaning this week, and yes, the pack rat got rid of about 4 garbage bags worth of crap out of her (my) room. it is looking more like a bedroom than a storage unit. i have so much left to do, however.

there has been a bear in the neighbourhood this past week, and last night we had a little masked visitor to the bird feeder. i tried to get a picture or two of him, but it would not turn out. i expect the little devil will return this evening, and perhaps i can try again.

i have reconnected with some old friends through facebook, as well as linking up with former family members from when i was married. it was nice to see pictures of the grandchildren and the kids again. just because their father and i are divorced should not mean that they should not speak to me. the little ones are growing up so fast, and look so adorable.

added are a few pictures,,,,enjoy and have a good and happy sunday, my faithfuls.

  1. Sorry to hear the vacation did not allow for all to be accomplished as you had hoped and that some was actually spent feeling under the weather. The pictures are beautiful and it sounds as if a good time was enjoyed anyway.

Take care and hope things go well when you return to work.

  6. Oh dear, I'm sorry to read this AND your update. As you may be aware I had a reaction myself to some medication recently. It sucks big time. Hope all gets sorted with your nose and you're back to 100% really soon. There's nothing like a bit of "Murphy's Law" to really piss you off...I'd be mighty hacked off myself if I was on holiday and got ill..I'd then want to change my leave to a few days sick leave. Seems REALLY unfair that you can't *sigh*
    *hugs*
