nope, gotta work (kinda like saying that again). we'll see how many more saturdays i ask for after this one, though. meanwhile, i am still waiting to make sure i have all my pay from marketlinc. FedEx dude was supposed to be here today with final pay (or so i thought , based on an email i received at the end of september.) seems they just owe me 3 hrs (woopie!! $30) but hey i want it! email from J tonight stated that it ought to be here next week. (i have to ask myself, why they just didn't include it on the last cheque).
so, survey gig. liking it still alright, except the project i am on at the moment is actually mind numbingly boring. and there are a lot of answering machines, so for example, last night's shift -- 4 hrs, the dialer placed 127 calls. from those 127 calls i managed 16 completed surveys. tonight's shift the dialer placed 147 calls, and out of those i managed 15 completed interviews. it appears that my stats are still good, was a little bit above the average for the agents working both shifts. so yes, i AM that good.
i have always prided myself on being a good agent. i was top notch with reservations, having had my stats well within standards, sometimes even beyond. i like being better than others. i work hard to learn what i have to learn so that i can excel at whatever i am doing.
i miss driving though. i have always enjoyed being a driver, and prided myself on being the best driver i can be. however, most delivery drivers don't make much money. i know, i have worked as an independent (with my own vehicle) and as a company driver (for the auto parts warehouse full of male chauvinists).
my resources to draw employment are very limited now. i mean, i can do the contact centre stuff from home , just not in a call centre environment, as my doctor has banned me from that type of stress. i can live with that, so long as i can make a decent wage. i have no experience in retail, or the desire for same--after all, the opportunity to be 'scented' by some smelly person would inevitably get me, and i would wind up with a trip to the ER and a few days off work to recover. can't have that either.
i used to have my own house cleaning business. now that was something that i really was good at. i started out having to take all the crap jobs, but as my reputation grew, and word got around at just how good my work was, i was able to pick and choose my clientele. at the end of that career, that spanned from the late 1980s to 2001, i am proud to say that i made a good living at it, and had great houses that i took care of for my clients. i am unable to perform that type of work now, due to osteo-arthritis in back, hips, hands, etc. for a time i had a really hard time accepting that my body was unable to measure up to my expectations. and that is what led me into head set hell.
that is not to say that i am in headset hell now. because i am not. i am happy to do this job from home. i guess i just wished that i could do better, ya know? make a little higher wage, have the security of dental and prescription drug coverage benefits, etc. maybe i will have to just think on something else to do along with this gig.
have a nice day......make it GREAT~ poet.
hmph. dunno what is up with the whole advanis gig. got an email at 4am from scheduling. hours for the next few days drastically cut. today i have my 6 hr shift, yay, monday reduced to 4.5, tuesday reduced to 4, wednesday reduced to 3, and the kicker is thursday and friday were declined altogether! nuts. i guess the newbies get reduced first. even with my decent conversion. hmph. tryin' to make it GREAT~ poet.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your physical ailments, Poet. But it sounds like you are making due with what you have to work with. You are a very resourceful person. I'm NOT sorry you can't work in a call-center though! That part sounds like a stroke of luck to me!
