F for F interviewer style.

i dislike cold calling. and even more, i dislike polling surveys. especially those of a political tone.

me- "   hello, my name is XXXX and i am calling on behalf of XXXX..
them- "   click"
me after i have finished my 20 second intro..."   hello?"
************

me- hello i am calling on behalf of XXXXX
them - what state does the rhode island chicken come from?
click!
************
you know, i really don't mind this job. except when it comes to rude people. i mean, really, if you do not have time, or do not wish to participate, please just say so....after i have said my 20 second intro.
be polite, you asshole, i am.
************
me- i am calling on behalf of XXXX to ask this regarding that, are you 18 + and a canadian citizen?
them- you might try asking if i want to participate in this, instead of jumping right in with your schpeel.
me- of course sir, i understand, would you like to continue?
them- no, and never call here again, thank you.
me- you're welcome sir.
(note, he was very respectful, not like he slammed the phone in my ear)
*************
and i can hardly believe how many people i spoke with tonight who either do not (or won't) speak english, and are not Canadian Citizens. for the political polling surveys we must speak with a Cdn citizen.  tonight's survey was rough. i mentioned it to my team supervisor, as she had mentioned that I can let her know what projects i am more comfortable on, and my preferences.  did i mention how i intensely dislike cold calling?
the warm call is much better, i guess.....kinda but not much.

me- hello this is a call on behalf of XXXX,
them- i already pay...
me (in my head) if you would listen until i was done...
me- we are conducting a brief 4 question survey...
them- i already pay
me- ma'am i would just like to ask you 4 brief questions about your store experience.
them- speaky spanny?
me- thank you i will have someone call you back in spanish.
click
************
me- hello, this is a call on behalf of XXXX, may i ask you 4 brief questions about your store visit?
them- yeah, how long will it take?  i have not got a lot of time, you know.  i told them at the store that i am a very busy person and i have not got tons of time to dilly dally on the phone answering all these questions....what are you waiting for? ask...
me in my head-- i was waiting to get a word in ..i mean i didn't wish to interrupt your logical stream of intelligence there....
me- overall how satisfied were you with your experience blah blah blah...
them- what experience, i just paid my bill...i said i did not have a lot of time, click.
me- huh?
**********
so yeah, tonight was a very long 5 hr shift. and guess what? i think i am on that same cold call project for tomorrow. joy bliss.
dear Lord, please let k get good and fast and make lots of $$ so i can bid farewell to calling for good? please?

  1. I can NOT stand to be cold called.
I will say I'm busy, sorry. Click.
    Or
    JUST HANG UP.
So much better to let the answering machine take it.
    sorry.

  2. @kmae- i understand your frustration with the whole cold call thing, but it would be better to avoid further calls to take 2 minutes and tell the person calling to add your number to the Do NOT call list. if you just hang up, your telephone number is fed back into the system, and as a result....another call. just a head's up.

to everyone- those who do this are just doing it to make a living, just the way your jobs are to make a living for you. a little kindness goes a long way.

  3. Okay I'll ask to be put on a do not call list.
I'm not particularly nice to meter maids either.
What a effed up job to have.
I wasn't nice to FA supervisors either...
    It's all harrassment.
    Forget it.
