Hallowe'en, holidays, home work, and happiness.

we were out of town yesterday and got home at 'prime time'. the street was packed with cars (on both sides) and there were kids and parents walking (running) everywhere. our house had been left early in the day, so there were no lights left on( i thought we might be home before dark--) k immediately put a sign on the door, "candy gone", and the yard light remained OFF. thankfully, no one showed up. (yeah, we are that mean). (i was reading another of my blog roll, and this is what i left in a comment, and then saw a post in the making so here we go).

I saw so many kids, it was as though our neighbourhood had become a fair grounds on opening night. lots of screaming and squealing, 3-13 year olds on sugar highs. tired parents lugging the "loot" in fact, i saw one parent carrying TWO big green garbage bags!!  can you say WTF? I guess they would not care that our house was in darkness....as they appeared to get enough from the rest of the homes. 

And now it is November 1st. k and i had gone to moncton, for the meeting, and yes, she was offered contract to work with the comma police (TM). in Edmonton, AB. the lady who owns the company is very down to Earth, and this is truly the break we were looking for. we have to go over to city hall for a crim check (because L said that having one of those on file gives her clients the warm fuzzies), and as soon as that is back, contracts will be signed and emailed to L, and k can get to work!! she is so happy. no, it is not medical transcription, but it is transcription, and she can do it from home, and it is what she truly enjoys. YAAAYYY bestus, i'm so proud of you!!

all good things come to those who wait (and stress and worry and check the job boards twice a day). persistence pays off and i have a really good feeling about this adventure for k that this is really going to pay off BIG. as an independent contractor, she will essentially be running her own business (another great thing), so there will be a few expenses that will be able to be claimed. (come to think of it, since i work from home, i, too, will be able to claim some of the things that she will -- can you say AWESOME??)

we have had our share of rough patches, but they always seem to be darkest just before the dawn, and this time is no exception. i am really liking the advanis market research gig, but the hours still aren't there. i got denied for today's shift in fact. the rest of this week is still ok, 7 hr shifts from 6pm-1am tues-fri. let's hope that works out.....christmas is coming. still with me--i am on phase three of lord only knows how many phases of the hiring process with Transcomm for a remote agent. i have passed all the other ones, assuming that is why i keep getting emails that say, here is the next step) so we'll see how that goes. i do not want to go into a call centre, i can do that stuff from here, thank you very much. i am less stressed when not worried about co workers (not going there again today, i will spare you that rant).

oh and speaking of said holiday.....i expect that it will be not more than 1 week before half the houses in here will be all decked out. ARGGGH, it is too early people. really, do you have to put the lights on NOW?  we just got past Hallowe'en (barely). and soon we'll be deafened by old tracks of Christmas tunes in malls, and we'll be seeing red felt hats on every old man with a white beard. (saw one yesterday in fact--). tell you what, you go back to the North Pole, and just make your appearance in the middle of the night on the 24th of December, OK?

ok, kane wants to take me for a walk now, so i better get bundled up and head out. make today GREAT~~ poet.
