Thursday Thoughts

i do some volunteering. not a lot, maybe not as much as i should. i am a door to door canvasser. i enjoy it. i have worked on campaigns for the Kidney Foundation this spring, and the  Canadian Diabetes Association, starting this month. in past years i have trotted around my neighbourhood with badges from the Arthritis Society, Red Cross, and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. When i received the call in spring for the Kidney Foundation, the lady on the other end of the phone seemed really surprised that i said yes. why not? i am home, i know the neighbourhood, and i need to walk anyway! (poor attempt at humour there, but you get my idea). it is my small way to help, so when i got the call for the Diabetes Association, i again said Sure !! my package arrived yesterday, and I will work on it beginning saturday (my foot should be ok by then--have appt tomorrow am to have another toenail taken off...because i enjoyed getting those needles jabbed in my foot last month).

yes i have a hard time staying on topic. my blog. a little about work now because that seems to be in my head. i am still enjoying it, but i am still not happy with the way the hours are working out. if i did not need want 7 hr shifts, i would not have requested them. anyway, for the rest of the month of november (even though they said it was going to be busy) i have requested 5 hr shifts (mon-fri 6pm-11pm AST). k will be busy making gobs of money soon, and my part time gig will be extra instead of necessity. (hoping hoping)

so i am in phase 3 of the hiring/testing portion with transcomm. this time i had to go to a website and have the computer tested for this, that and the other thing. i received an email yesterday stating that my speeds were slow, and that i might want to upgrade my internet service. (WTF?? no, my rogers Express works fine, i have tested my speeds on more than that site they wanted me to use, at different times of the day, and guess what?? always within the range my package with rogers gives me. if they are gonna quibble over .5 mb/s, i'm kinda wondering what else they will quibble over.
i sent more tests in last night and today, using IE or Firefox, with other programs open, with them closed, seems fine to me. so we'll see. having worked for xplornet (ISP) (my last in house contact centre ever) i did learn a fair bit about speed and what buggers them up. anyway, we'll see what they have to say, if anything. if nothing, well i jumped through the hoops they requested me to, and that is all i can do.

ok, enough for today, nap time. hoping for a whole 7 hr shift tonight (Bwahahahaha) bet i will get 5 again, but i need a nap. oh before i forget...kane and i went for an awesome walk today. we covered three greens and walked from brookside drive to st.mary's street through the west hills golf course (which for those of you who don't know, is not a golf course now, it never got finished)(in fact, there is a big billboard sign saying for sale 188+ acres. wow i wish i had a bazillion dollars, i would buy that property :) just to say i owned a piece of fredericton).

make today GREAT~ poet.
