my shifts were cut this week, and i received an e-mail at 130am to let me know that my shift tonight has been cancelled. fabulous. i need a new job. one that i can do from the comfort of my home with decent hours and decent pay. is that so difficult?
see, this began as a great gig. i have worked hard with the company; my stats are good as far as i know (they don't send reports like other call centres do--no news is good news?). i asked about wanting my stats for particular projects, and my standing in general, but i guess that is not part of the team supervisors' job description, because i have yet to get any. i am not happy with the whole no bonus thing. i mean really, what call centre does not have a bonus structure for good performance? take last night, for example, i had 22 completed surveys in my three hours shift (it was supposed to be a 4 hr shift, but meh,). my flow rate average was 4 points higher than the agent average. sounds good right? i have been ranked on different projects as in the top 3 since i began in september. yes, i am good at my job, whatever job i am doing.
there are 2 projects going on right now, one political one, and one ongoing one for large cell phone company. seems there are weekly quotas, and the hours are cut because the quotas are being met.
i also had an issue with the integrated chat thing in the remote set up we use for communicating with team supervisors. i had to log out and in every half hour if i wanted to see if i was getting any messages. i received an email that it was likely on our end (shift the blame), and i should get a new computer, or new modem, or call my ISP. (for the record, i have done all that due to another techy issue) the modem part not the computer part. funny that after having those issues, my shift got cancelled. co incidence?
so yeah, i need a new job. one that pays the bills (regularly) and can be depended on. i have not heard back from the driving job i applied for, been a week now. i do have a phone call coming in at noon from a company called ARISE. which reminds me i better go view that video prior to my phone call. will let you know what that is about in another post.
make today GREAT....you are the only one who can~ poet.
Good luck with all of that. Finding a good job is always tricky and you have the added problem of health issues. Not easy.
ReplyDeleteso i just had my phone call with a nice lady from Tennessee. The company is american, but has a CDN section. it seems a lot like the other virtual call centre company, contractXchange, where you get certified with them, for a fee, and then compete for placement at various jobs. not exactly what i invisioned myself doing. i do realize that the whole work from home thing is mostly going Independent, but what happened to companies hiring employees and paying them a decent wage AND benefits? anyway we'll see what the next email has to say.
ReplyDeleteand Mom - thanks for coming over. yes, the whole health issue thing does put a cramp in working to say the least.
I'm leary that you would have to pay them for training.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't sound right. Forget that!
K- thanks for coming over...i am not interested in paying for a job. that is not the way i roll :) so i guess it is back to ye 'ole drawing board. i am awaiting a couple of replies on two driving jobs. i mean i have YEARS of a clean driving record, and have done the whole delivery scene before. not interested in the ones where i have to use my own vehicle, though. been there (twice) done that, made next to nothing. i am putting out to the Universe that I would like to catch a break, please. :)
