Word Wednesday

so i began a new job 3.5 wks ago, at Hawkins House, which is an assisted living apartment complex for adults over the age of 60 who are low income and on a wait list for subsidized housing. They all want to be there, and they all enjoy it very much. I enjoy being part of the team that sees to their needs and so on. the ladies there are so sweet and kind, and i can learn so much by what they have done in their lives. Most have wicked fabulous senses of humour too. Just a great way to collect a pay cheque.

just a couple of things, there is no structure there, and there is a workplace bully. she seems to see herself as the one who can do it all, and no one else measures up. i have gobs more experience than she does on so many levels, but still she feels the need to go behind me and check what i have done. going to have to mention that to the hiring manager. that is not cool. tonight at the end of the staff meeting, it was announced that she was to be the supervisor for us to take our issues to. (great....miss intimidation gets to be top dog). no one is happy about it. i think there will be an uprising of sorts. That, or they will just find other jobs somewhere else. i really didn't want to be in the market for a job this soon, going to see how the next couple of weeks plays out though. Things need to be more organized, i suggested that on more than one occasion. we'll see what transpires.

meanwhile it is late and i am tired. just wanted to make sure i still remembered my blogger log in :) make today GREAT, only you can~ poet

  2. Ug.... that sucks about the bully. My assistant manager is big on micro managing which I cannot abide. She'll give me a task with little or no direction and then on completion she'll tell me how she wanted it done...

Good luck with that co-worker hun

  3. turn it around, & start following HER around, checking out HER work.
    Or
just ignore the bitch & enjoy the people you do like.

  4. just ignore the bully, don't let them get to you, it's not worth it. As long as you like what you do, and your interaction with the other people, then things should be fine. So let her check your work if it makes her happy. If she can't fault you it will stop soon enough.
    Take care,
    Nathalie
