option exploration

so i have been in a mood about work. what with all the changes the last 6-10 months, i have felt uneasy with my current employment. so much so that i have sent out applications for other call centres in the area who are hiring. rate of pay is a major factor along with the future companies' scent policies. i have done phone interviews, and did receive a dear poet letter from one ...poor me ... oh well. i will try again in 6 months.

one that i am interested in following up on is for CIBC telephone banking representative, for president's choice financial. 3 month training period at a fourteen + dollar an hour wage. i have not made that kind of money since i worked for myself cleaning homes for people way back in the day. i have set up a phone interview for this week and we'll see how that goes. i hear that it is really difficult to get hired there, but once you are in, you are there. i want stability and the freedom to expand my call centre career. it appears that is what i am going to be doing until retirement anyway. 

i have also applied to an internal posting in abcc group. it is for outbound calling, warm calls to existing customers with offers of additional options and services to go with their car rental. the rate of pay is just 50 cents more than my current wage, but the work hours are a bit better. currently my shift for summer is 145p-1030p mon-fri. with this outbound pilot project, the hours are mon-fri 10a-645p for the next 2 months. that is something i can live with. we will have to see.  they might keep it on at our centre. currently it is just a test, so i am willing to be a test pilot. :)

i scan the want ads and the HRDC job bank site every day, in search of something better. even though i realize that the grass isn't always greener when you get there. maybe it is spring fever, that restless feeling we may all feel. or maybe i am just tired. we'll have to see. i have always said from the very start, that i wanted to stay at abcc group until i retire. i do wish they would pay better. but the medical benefits are second to none, and the meds i am on cost a friggin' fortune. one month of advair inhaler is $475.98. for which i pay $0  that in itself is worth it to me. 

well, it is raining now. we had some nice days, and now we are supposed to have showers for the next 5 days....hmph. i guess the almanac says we are to have another hot and humid summer, great. the air conditioner will be on 24/7 in that case. currently we have a temperature of +11C and showers, it is damp, causing some aching in the old joints. the leaves are coming out nicely, a light green tinge on every tree. looks nice. the lawn is coming along nicely, and the first dry day i have after these rainy ones, it is going to get mowed. i like mowing the lawn. a bit hard on my back, but, hey, i got to get it in shape, right? 

speaking of shape, we have been trying to walk around the neighbourhood each evening. it must be working because i am 12 pounds lighter than my heaviest measure. that pleases me, and gives me the drive to keep doing it. i so want to be svelte and light again. it has been years since i was wearing nice shaped jeans and t shirts that i tucked in (because there was no spare tire. ah the days of a flat tummy.
