F for F : topic my pet peeve...

,,,for three years i made my living by making reservations for rental vehicles. some of the callers were un-be-leeev-able. now, i am making my living by being a driver for a courier company. my new pet peeve is driving in my fair city.

Being behind the wheel gives me a great feeling of freedom after being tethered to a phone jack for all that time. however, the fucktardery (yup, that is a word tonight) i listened to on the phone is no match for what i have seen in the last month or so on my city's streets. a few of my favorites i shall share with you,,,,,

who has the Right of Way at a four way stop? OMFG, blow the dust of your handbooks, people. you know you probably still have them.

turning signals! last i heard, they are installed on all the latest fancy-assed cars and SUVs. use them for fuck sakes! but don't leave them on for miles at a time. that pisses me off even more than if you don't use them at all.

haul your lazy ass out of bed earlier so you can apply your lip stick, mascara, etc, at home. um, sitting at the intersection with the visor mirror down trying to hold coffee in one hand and lip liner in the other (all the while talking on the phone ....yeah blue-tooth technology, shit) is not the place. oh and don't flip me off for staring. note to self, stare straight ahead, at the lights, don't look in the mirror or to the left or to the right of you, people tend to be bitchy in the mornings. fuck off, and put your DAY face on at home.

cell phones and driving. upgrade your phone and get one of those blue tooth thingys to stick in your ear, use voice recognition to enter the number that is SO important that you must call them immediately at the time the light turns green, (or red and you are behind me....jesus watch out.....go ahead, hit me, i'm insured and not in the wrong, and i am watching you).

speeding. the posted rate of speed on any roadway is not merely a suggestion. if you are in that big a hurry, haul your lazy ass outta bed earlier in the morning, asshole. i wish i could stop you. where are freddy's finest when you need them?

speaking of freddy's finest, they have been doing alot of cracking down lately, especially in school zones, which you morons, is posted at 30k/h between the hours of 730a-4p weekdays. um, on more than one occasion i have been flipped off, honked at, and even passed in a school zone. right at a crosswalk, that driver had no regard for others on the roadway, or the kids who were on the sidewalk. you know how kids are...they play and rough house sometimes, and well, something nasty or fatal might have occurred. fuck off, oh and i got your plate number you ass hole.

i could go on and on, but you get my meaning. i will say one thing, and it is the first line in the driver handbook,,,,"Driving is a privilege, not a Right"

  1. hey walker. i try not to be in a hurry all the time. i mean, i am not losing any license points, nor am i willing to pay huge fines, for the sake of 'the package'. afterall, i am not delivering a heart to a transplant team, i have documents or files, and lately, truck parts, hydraulic hoses and cases of grease.

my favorite 'thing' lately is guaging the reaction time of drivers at traffic lights. omg. oh well, we are not on the 1/4 mile (although, as you implied, it sometimes feels like it)

    have a great weekend!

  2. Goodness Poet.....don't think I could do your job for love nor money....just driving to and from work I share most of your pet peeves!! Thankfully my way to work takes me through the countryside as opposed to any city driving.....however, there are still alot of drivers I encounter and can't help but wonder how they ever got their licenses!!
