randomness

we have snow, not just a little bit, honkin' huge piles of snow. the driveway got done yesterday twice. hmph. that is ok, i enjoy doing it, as long as the snow is light and fluffy. (and it was). we have more snow in our fair city right now than we had all last winter, and it is only the end of december. i am running out of room to put the snow, the driveway is getting shorter. actually, on nice days, i usually shovel it back, makes for higher banks, but it is clear so it is all good. the park plowers do a crappy job of doing the streets, but at least they do them. since they did not consul time on how to plow, i must keep my opinion to myself. i still must get some pictures up, to give you an idea of the depth of the white grossness.

the new job is going well. i love it. the days seem to zip right by. i am fitting in pretty well with the guys at the warehouse, the other drivers, and the bosses. well, why not? i am charming after all. along with being a hard worker who wants to do a great job, not just a good one. thursday after noon they assigned me a car, 1999 honda civic, 5spd manual, with damn near 300 000 kms on it. i have not driven a stick in 7 years, but it all came back to me, and it didn't even really bother my hip; it is all good. my hours are long, but the day slips by. so far my shifts are going to be 8-5 on all weekdays but tuesday, when my hours will be 9a-6p. then i will slip into the rotation for the short shifts on saturdays, which is 8-12, and only one in 4 or 5, not sure yet. i already gave "my car" a cleaning, ran it through the car wash, and it looks alot better. also used those antibacterial wipes to detail the interior a bit. i like my work environment to be as clean as it can be, hauling car parts around all day. it is actually so much easier than the OC gig. i mean, most of the deliveries i have are light loads, barely anything i can't handle. i have 2 company shirts, and have requested a new hat (they will have to get it special because of my small size)(of just my head)( i know you wanna know what size it is)(children's size 2-3x fits perfectly...the 4-6 one is a bit poofy on the top)(imagine that!).

i have already mentioned that i don't want a lunch hour, so i have 9 hr days, that means 45 hours a week, plus 4 on the times i do the saturday shift. pay is every two weeks, on a thursday , i think, and is paid by cheque (was hoping for direct deposit, alas, that is not the way they do it, so...) i started work on a pay week, so it will be 2 weeks until my pay, it should be a pretty healthy cheque. with deductions and everything. i have not had the opportunity to discuss the benefits that they offer as yet, will save that for after the holidays.

meanwhile, i should get a 4 day pay from the contact centre this week, and i am hoping for a little bit from EI, since i restarted my old claim.). we will see how it goes.

k is flying out to calgary on thursday. her mom is in hospital and slated for a pretty heavy duty operation for her rheumatoid/osteo-arthritis. k has not seen her parents in the flesh for many, many years. her sister has booked and paid for the round trip! she will even fly out of our fair city, on air canada. we thought perhaps westjet out of moncton would be cheaper for her sister, but, the flights that remain are more expensive. she will be gone a week, leaving us to fend for ourselves! i'm sure everything will be alright. keep us in your thoughts! the operation is a risky one: removing bones from neck, replacing them with bone bank bones, and rods, damned arthritis.

it has been one year since dad passed away. yesterday. since we had a blizzard i could not spend the day with mom. so i am going to go today a while. i picked up her few groceries last night, and will take them with me today. i think i better take my shovel, too. the back deck at mom's has about three feet of snow at the sliding patio door, and she wants to have it clear should she need to get out. i can do that.

i have not been sleeping lately. up too frickin' early. like some mornings 4am, or like today at 3! grrrrrrrrrr. so i did a bit of blog hopping, as well as jumping around facebook. i like that very much.

the kids are bringing with them their new addition to their family. Murphy is a dog they got from the oromocto SPCA last thursday. i guess he is settling in to their routine and has already impressed them with his good behaviour. he doesn't seem to mind the guinea pigs either. i wonder how he will do with six cats today? i am sure at least four of them will sneak away under cover in some remote hiding place that they reserve for when seth comes here. pepe and lightening are the two cats who really don't seem to give a shit if there is a dog in the house or not. i hope to get some pictures of him for you today as well.

pictures, going to take some of the snow, murphy, and this week, going to get a few shots of my office (car). i have been meaning to update my photo page, i did manage to get a few christmas pics up.
