new job: update.

so the new job is going well. i am liking the product, the company, and the training. though it is extremely intense, the training model seems to work. i feel like i am not 'getting' it, but my test & quiz results indicate that i am.

i have seen many familiar faces from my old job, and have met some very nice new people too. guess it was time to get back into it. (4 months off will drag ya down a bit).

we have been listening to agents take calls, and i think i could do it, but not today. we are to begin assisting customers wednesday in the classroom, and then beginning next week, hit the floor running. i was hopeful that my schedule would be adjusted to close to what i was expecting, however, it looks like evenings are in my future.....pffffffft. we each will sit down with the scheduler before week's end to see how scheduling works, and perhaps mine can be tweaked some. i am a bit disappointed, for i was told at hiring that i could have my choice of shifts after training, that it was not difficult to get on days, so long as i worked weekends. i am here to tell ya....having a weekend off is not high on my prioirty list. so long as i have two days off in a row, any two days can be a 'weekend'.

the company is really cutting edge. i have spoken with other agents and there never seems to be complaints like at other contact centres. i like that. everyone seems to be really happy in their roles.

k has not found work yet. she has been applying to jobs, advertised, and not advertised. she has done research on finding work in the hidden job market...no luck yet. she has printed up networking buisness cards highlighting her credentials and work experience, and sent out prospecting letters and emails to potential employers. it is not like she isn't trying at all. she did so well in her course....we just get frustrated sometimes. after all it did take me quite some time to land a good job with decent pay, i suppose it will for her as well.

mom is doing pretty well in the new surroundings. except she is depressed. i think she has been for a long time. we have suggested she see my counselor, and she has finally accepted the need. so k is going to call and make an appointment. hopefully she will do a house call. the office is up many stairs, and mom just could not get up them.

well, must take the opportunity to blog trip around. i am up early enough that i can peruse before i have to log off and get ready for work. have a good day all.
