been a while since i’ve posted. things were beginning to turn around a bit for us. k was working at a job she was enjoying, and then all of a sudden yesterday, without warning, she is looking for a new job again. the bastard fired her! out of the blue! his wife; and co-worker of k had been saying all along what a great job she was doing, no hint of discontent at all. and then boom.

so now k has a job interview at DECH on wednesday for a clerical position in the hospital’s x*ray dept. cross your fingers, teeth and toes that this is THE ONE.

mom has been really ill the last few weeks. the COPD is worse, and she has a hard time getting her breath after even just walking from the living room to her bedroom. it really upsets me to watch, because i have watched before. she also had fluid build up around her heart, lungs, and then her abdomen, legs and feet began to swell. i never before saw such puffy feet!  the dr. has changed some of her medications, and finally the swelling has gone down in her feet and legs. her extreme shortness of breath is a bit lessened now, and she is ‘cautiously optimistic’ that she is feeling better.

my job at xplornet is going well. i am almost 3 months in. the powers that be were correct, the learning curve is approximately 3 months. in an ever changing role, with new products and services, policies and procedures, adaptability is key to a smooth running machine. my co*workers are there for me in a support role, and the information i need to do my job and help our customers is available to me.

i see many familiar faces there now. many who jumped the sinking avisbudget ship are on board now. i am sure they will find, as i have, the safe atmosphere, where the ‘front line’ is actually treated fairly and with respect.

it is so different than where i used to work. we have been having a pretty major issue at work all this week, and it has been pretty difficult listening to very upset callers back to back. management have been spoiling us with hourly draws for gift cards, delivering hot pizza, fresh pop and all the coffee from local timmy’s that we can handle. being on the front line and dealing with very unhappy callers, we take a lot of heat. it is nice to be appreciated by the powers that be. i like that and that makes me a happy team player who wants to do right by the company.

seth is still living with us. he was at mom’s part time until she took ill again. he is a destructive little bugger by times, when he is left alone for any length of time (including 5 minutes).  he keeps the cats entertained, and he hasn’t lost an eye or had his nose scratched yet, so i guess that is a plus. he has taken to shredding papers, and tissue boxes, getting into garbage cans and just creating a big mess when we get home from work. granted, he is alone for a stretch, but come on man, sleep you have the chance to have nice naps, when it is quiet, don’t be tearing the house apart!

well, it is 5am. i have been up since 315! crap. i have been ill for the last 3 wks. bronchitis and sinus infection. pretty sick actually. but i keep plugging along. i’ve made 2 trips to the OPH ER to be seen by a doctor. my medications for this round are an antibiotic and prednisone. what fun! october or fall in general are usually bad times of year for anyone who suffers from asthma, bronchitis or other breathing conditions, so i am really not surprised, just a little pissed off that i have been feeling crappy for all this time.
