well, almost august now. have not been doing much in the way of writing. have been offering my support to my 'sisters' on a site that deals with getting and staying sober. (i am at 7.5 yrs now). i have been perusing facebook too, even updated some photos on there.
bestus graduated from her course, with highest honours, and now is in search of a medical transcription job. it is hard to break into a new career but she is trying very hard. i am still on EI, it is done in september, been putting feelers out for a part time job, but no nibbles yet.
i enjoyed a reunion of old friends from my childhood, from Minto. some of them i have not seen in something crazy like 30 years. they are only an hours drive from me, and i from them. it was really nice to just laugh and reminisce of days gone by, when our only cares were whose yard were we gonna play in, and hope it didn't rain while we were on a bike ride. :) got some great pics including a group shot. was a great time had by all.
next week, one of our classmates is home from the West, and a bunch of the class of '83 are going to get together for an evening at a local pub. i am looking forward to seeing her, and some of the rest who i hope will show. been a long time. 27 years to be exact. now if only i could attend a reunion of my childhood buddies from Ottawa. that would be so awesome. i guess at my age, i look back and wonder how they are all doing, even though i may never cross their minds. let's hope that they are all well, and having a great life. i know i am.
i hope we would win lotto max. i would love to have a piece ( a big piece) of that pie. i so would love to own a home, with a garage, a fenced in back yard for the dog and cats, and have as nice a deck as we have here. ;) i have been looking on mls.ca to see what's out there, in my neighbourhood of choice, and the prices here seemed to have gone up a fair bit.
oh that reminds me. i was looking at the ottawa mls site, and just for fun punched in my old stomping grounds, riverside park. holy sweet mother of God, the prices there are crazy high. $499.900 in my neighbourhood. (dad sold our home in 1978 for a whopping $48K. OMG. i even noticed a home on our old street for sale, around $399K. i guess we won't be moving back any time soon. :(
anyhoo. smoking, yes we are still doing it. nuff said on that. anyway, it is nearly nap time (how we do enjoy naptime) have a wonderful day, make it GREAT~
edit to add. the get together at the local pub was , um, ok, if you were a drinker. sitting sober watching others hammer slam the beer into 'em, not so much. i was actually having a bit of a moment and i called on some things i learned in my online sobriety group...HALT. which means Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired. i did my mental checklist. was i hungry--YES the server was too busy running back and forth to the bar to take our food orders. Angry--see hungry, Lonely--not really, Tired, of the BS. i was ready to leave after we finally got fed, but that was not happening. we did manage to leave around 930pm. let's just say it was a long evening for this sober chick.
Hi Poet. Glad that all is well with the world. Huge congratulations to bestus on the exams and good luck both of you with the job hunt.
