30 day challenge #2

Day 02 → Something you love about yourself.

ok, i have thought about this quite a bit. the fact of the matter is there is no one single thing that i can think of.   well, just a sec, ermm, ummm, ok, let's try this: 

i love my ability to be comfortable speaking with strangers on the phone. lord knows i have had tons of experience with that, what with the several contact centres i have been employed with. i find that it is easy to build a rapport with the caller, no matter if they are pissed off about a bill, or whatever the case might be, or, as in the case of the new job, answering my questions in a telephone survey. i am calm, and try and make my request seem like they will enjoy doing it. as a result, i have been top dog getting survey completes. 


when i worked for RMH in oromocto, i was doing outbound sales calls, trying to push long distance service onto people. it was hard, but after about 5 minutes offering all the benefits, the people i called were generally eating out of my hand so to speak. even a past supervisor told me that she would log into my calls just to listen. i made it fun (in a place that was not at all fun). when i worked for ABG, renting cars, my rapport builder was usually, "i travel vicariously through my callers". it worked, and my reservation conversion was always well above acceptable centre metrics.  even at xnet, doing customer service inbound calls, i did my best to make it enjoyable....contrary to what you think, the customer is NOT always right, they just think they are. so, i used my wit and charm to turn things around, and it generally worked.   now i am not saying that my phone presence is always stellar, but i do aim to please and try hard to see both sides, and just to explain the reason for my call, or what have you. 


i would like to think that i sound professional without having 'too much' fun. and i have a clear speaking voice and pronounce my words clearly and properly. no slang on the phone EVER.
