Day 03 → Something you have to forgive yourself for.
dear younger poet:
(from my 45 year old self to my younger self)
please forgive me for what i have done to you. i did not take care of your body in proper ways. i abused you with alcohol and made you weak and thin. i punished you with so many hard days and nights of labour work that now you are not able to do the things that you ought to be able to do at this age. mind- i am so sorry for not using you to your full potential. i know you can do more, and i am training you so that we may be able to branch out and further. i am sorry for drinking to excess and causing bad things to occur. it was the only way i knew at the time. and now i know better and have known better for so long now. i should have asked forgiveness long before this. i am learning to be true to myself, and in doing so, true to you, younger self. maybe i should have listened a little harder at things you tried to tell me, but i am listening now, so please forgive me for what i have done to you. i love you, self, and i honour you by being the best self i can be. i honour you, self, by being there for others who struggle with alcohol abuse, and just doing the best i can now to be supportive of others. in doing these things, i believe that it is strengthening us as well.
please forgive me?
with love.

i forgive you and love you very much.
younger poet.
Dear Bestus,
ReplyDelete9 years ago, you would not have been able to write this. The fact that you can and mean every word says how far you have come. What a strong woman you have become. I am SO proud of you!
Thank you Bestus **
ReplyDeleteNice letter...I would have to forgive my younger self for not eating healthy or exercising...and for not standing up for myself enough.
