Thursday already?

why yes, yes it is. k is still sending out covers and resumes to umpteen companies. she is getting discouraged, as it has been since june that she has been in search of a job in her new career field. i wonder why it is so difficult to step into something new? she has wicked good marks, she is extremely dedicated, and yet, no company will take that risk on a new grad. nearly every one says, "sorry we need someone with at least 2 yrs experience". welcome to Catch 22 -- you can't get a job without experience and you can't get that experience without a JOB!

it's not like she has limited herself to our fair city either. she has been applying to companies across the country as well as into the US. all she wants is a shot.

meanwhile, my job with Advanis seems to be working out ok. did my 4 hr shift last night on just one project, warm calling CXs with a major cell phone company in the US. the survey/interview is a bit longish....i have had respondents get bored and hang up (and we were like 2 questions away from a complete for me).  but on the upside, for my 4 hours last night, i got 13 completes!! yay me. i don't even mind asking the same questions over and over, i mean, it isn't like i am speaking to the same person over and over, they are hearing it for the first time. i don't find it boring. i guess i like the routine of it. i received my emailed pay stub yesterday...direct deposit goes in friday--woot!!  i like that this company does direct deposit and pays every other friday. unfortunately, they only pay minimum wage (based on province of residence), but that's ok. not like i am paying to travel to get to work :)   and that is the best thing of all. i sit in here in my room/office and do my job. i am comfortable in here, and there is no risk of getting sick from co-workers' perfumes, etc. further, i am not exposed to colds or viruses like i would be if i were in cube-hell. win win!!

we are working on losing weight. M was here on the sunday last, and showed us the website she uses to calculate calories burned with everything imaginable. even sleeping. i guess i had mentioned this before, ooops, anyway....i really want to lose about 70 pounds. i'm sure that i would feel much better and have more energy, too.   i really need to drag myself to CURVES again too. after all, we have membership, and well summer we never went near the place. someone even sent a card in september saying that they had not seen us and hoped that everything was ok. that was nice of them. i think i will start next week again. maybe.

have a happy Thursday, readers....make today GREAT~ poet.

  1. Sending K lots of good wishes for a job...... you wouldn't happen to be doing follow up surveys for AT&T would you? When I was at Convergys we had to ask if they would agree to being contacted at a later time for a survey.

I hear you on the weight. I've been giving serious thought to quitting smoking also...
