work

so the latest at work is such fun. for the past week or so, the A brand calls are returning to our centre, what we call 'overflow'. rumour has it that the new centre in mexico is having some issues with its employees, so guess where the excess comes? yup, up to our centre. it has been crazy busy, calls in "q" as it were, customers with many complaints about the language barrier, etc. uh, huh, we on the front lines saw that coming....but it was all about the allmighty dollar, or peso.  so, 25 or so crossover agents, myself included, opted to take the overflow calls. to get the job done.  my first 2 hours of my shift were on the new booking engine with B brand, and the rest of my day was spent on my old system booking A brand. it was actually fun. i enjoyed my day. today, it will be the same, first 2 hours on Bbrand, and the rest of the shift on Abrand. it will likely bungle up my stats, (as we know it is all about stats), but the needs of the customer and the business must be met, and if this is what i need to do, i will. besides, it could be worse, i could be sitting in the employment office, looking at want ads, so this isn't bad.

k has the day off, and she is spending it doing housework, fun. tomorrow i will go out to mom's and get her out of the house for a drive and friday i will do some housework, and get the plants watered etc.  k will also get the boy to his job, and follow that up with a nice, 2.5 hr nap. 

my shift yesterday and today was changed, we call them shift moves...so yesterday and today, my shifts are 1130a-815p. these are fine with me. k did her shift bid yesterday and she got good shifts, 630 am start times on both saturday and sunday, 11 start time monday and friday, and 1130 start time on tuesday. those are pretty good. i do my bid tomorrow, and i can only hope that mine will be not over night. with the blending of the 2 brands, there are lots of issues with the way the bid is going. there are, as always, not very happy people with where they are ranked, and what they are getting for shifts, which begin in march for the summer. we'll only have to wait and see. cross your fingers that i don't end up on the night shift. ergh.

it is a sunny and bright winter's day at the moment. no snow in the forecast. we have a present temperature of -10C and is projected to rise to a balmy 0C, and we are pleased that there is no strong arctic wind to add to that. it is all good. at least i am putting my positive foot forward today. that, and it is my friday, and i have the next 2 days off....it will be busy, but at least i will get some stuff done.
