Friends & Memories

we all have friends. some are close, others not so much. we make friends through work, or clubs. we gather these relationships and hold them dear.  and then life gets in the way, and you lose touch for one reason or another. before you know it, years have passed and you wonder....

through blogging, i have made some wonderful friends. each one of you, my faithfuls, i hold in a special place. my RL friends, also have a special place i keep them. i bring this up because through the wonder of the internet, i am able to reconnect with some of my friends from years ago.

my oldest and dearest friend from grade 7 had a birthday last week. she lives on the west coast, and i, on the east coast. i called her to wish her a happy bday, and forgot there was a 4 hour time difference....i called at 1130am, and she is behind me so much earlier.....hahaha. anyway, we just picked up from when we last spoke and all was well. she didn't mind being awakened with my call. we must have talked over an hour, but it was like we were in the same room, i love good long distance phone service. we had a great chat and all is well in her world. that pleased me very much.  it also pleased me that she had been thinking of me just before the phone rang (insert Twilight zone music here). being on opposite ends of this very large country means the only way we can get in touch is by phone or the internet. traveling in canada costs way too much. but we have these services to keep in touch, and we do.

take classmates.com, for example. this is a great tool for searching for old chums, and reconnecting. i have been a Gold member for years, sending updates and emails to those long in my past. and i have even heard back from a few of them. that is cool. it is all about the "whatcha doin' now" thing.

facebook has really taken off here, especially at work. we have little groups and we poke each other back and forth. what i like it the chain of events that leads me to the topic of this post.  i linked to one person, who was friends with another, and while hopping through the friend of friend lists, i found an old and dear friend of mine. K and i had our first conversation in years this very morning. it was nice to know that she thought of me but didn't know how to get hold of me, and same with me. i think we should do coffee sometime really soon.

people enter and leave your quality world for one reason or another. if you are lucky enough, they will remain important in your life and you will just pick up where you left off. my friends and i always seem to be able to do that. i hope your's do too.

  2. Concerning your last post, I don't think you have signs of OCD. I think you are just a very organized person. Good for you.

  3. So true. I have a friend living in London right now, but the distance doesn't seem to hamper our friendship. It's nice.
