seth's on the mend

seth has been a sick little man since his operation. he has had a low grade, which turned to a moderate grade fever, and had to spend two nights in hospital. he is better now, and is on three different types of medication now for about a month, and special food. he has been with us because it is easier for us to give him his meds than for mom. and it is pretty stressful for her.

the vet thinks that perhaps he had a bad reaction to one of the vaccines, that could explain the trouble he has had. not to go into it all, he is on the mend now and it is all good. 

the cats are getting used to him being around as well. not alot of hissing, etc. i think they know it is temporary (maybe), and he has been sick. animals just know stuff, it seems. 

meanwhile, the new job is going well. i still love it. i am getting more familiar with the runs that i do, and finding addresses for the drop offs and pick ups are is getting easier.  i have had some pretty heavy loads, but told M that it is really difficult for me to do those, after all, it isn't like i am a weight lifter or something. he is working on regular runs for me, and that is good. the guy i took over from got too stressed out about the job....i try not to be. if i get it delivered, i do, if the order comes in too late, and i'm stuck in traffic, well, it will get dropped the next business day. it isn't like i can beam myself over from one end of the city to another during rush hour traffic in 5 minutes. they ought to know that as well. 

the other things that have been making afternoon deliveries difficult were the 2 events we had during these past 2 weeks. the FREX exhibition, and Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival. makes parking downtown nearly impossible. not that there is alot of parking anyway. god, how do they do it in big cities like NYC?  i would stress if i were in a place like that. 

the money is pretty good. i make more than during my stay in headset hell. that is good. the one thing i must remember to do, is put aside money for income tax purposes and expenses on the vehicles. because i am now an independent contractor, i must tuck away money for this stuff. the good news is i can claim expenses as well. it is all good. 

mom is doing pretty well. except for this stress with seth. she has been getting some stuff done at the house, like painting the ceilings, and getting the bushes and shrubs trimmed in the yard. i will be going out around noon and we'll come in and get grub, and she can visit with seth. he is doing better, and she said she hoped he would remember her. of course he will, he is her dog, after all.
