snow and ramblings

with windows live writer, i have to keep re-setting my fonts, and you all know how i love changing things up. if only i could set this permanently. i like this one. it looks the most like my own scrawl, kinda.

so, lets begin. we got snow...lots of it, almost as much as Moncton, which is in the 'snowbelt' as we like to call it. hmph. my larger shovels are out at my mom's garage, and there was just a small one here. that was such fun. i didn't go to work yesterday at all, not even my regular runs, snowed in. i managed to get the driveway cleared eventually, but at a cost. yup, my back. oh well. i called in and said that if i didn't rest it i would be in for no work the rest of the week, so i rested it.

my car has been repaired again. it is working like a charm. it sounds ok, it even purrs. i'm happy and so is k, because now she has her's back. i hope it lasts longer than a day or two this time. we simply cannot afford a newer one, and there were reasons why we traded LT2 away. (although, with the dump of snow yesterday, i would have gladly been driving him).

k began her upgrading course through EI yesterday. it is extremely basic. even for her. i do not say that with disrespect. she wanted the basics, and she is getting them. she also has the training cds and a great book with a cd to learn at home, so i think she will get that 'dream office job' soon. i would like to see her in something like that to finish out her working career.

i would like to see myself in my dream driving job to finish out my working years, as well. i have a few resumes out there, and even applied to one call centre, the one that moved in close to our home. it is an  inbound call centre, and i don't know much about it. i just sent in my resume and got an email back from the HR person that she could not open the attachment, could i cut and paste it into an email, which i did. i am sure i could get on there, got the experience, and not that i want to go back into a call centre, we need the higher wage.

wages, i was doing some calculating with regard to the courier job i am presently part of.i took my weekly amounts, divided them by the amount of weeks i have worked there to get an average weekly pay. then i divided that by the days of the week, and finally by the number of hours i am out on the road ( no scheduled breaks with this job, so i eat on the run you might say). then i factored in the amount of money i have spent on fuel since 4 sept, maintenance on the vehicles, cell phone bills (which are higher now since that is how i am dispatched to the deliveries, and then take out deductions such as income taxes, CPP etc, i figure i make less than $4.00/hr. hmmm, minimum wage in our fair province was just raised to $7.25 (i think)so i am not making much. i am gathering experience but that is about it. what to do? well, i reapplied to EI regarding my existing claim (that i was on when i left headset hell in july). we shall see what that brings. meanwhile, i am always searching for gainful employment as i do this job. how did i get into this anyway?

i only wish i could get a driving job that i could retire from. one that pays a reasonable hourly wage, or better yet, salary plus bonuses, medical benefits, and a company vehicle. that would be the best thing for me. for us. and i would be happy.

the cats are all fine. up to their usual antics. sure keeps us entertained. i haven't had the opportunity to get many updated pictures posted but will on the weekend, hopefully.

we have taken a break from the dunging out of my room. but shall begin again tonight. i am going to mom's to get her medicines, and to make sure and remember our shovels...for i am certain that the snow is here to stay now. i really would like to have that room completed before christmas time, we'll see if that comes into reality.
