the latest news, sports & weather

k's mom is getting stronger as the days pass. she now has some strength in her left side, and has been complaining of hospital food. (you know that if someone can growl about the food, they must be feeling a bit better). k's sister is there until today. she updates us with phone calls, which is great.

in other news, k is now a student. yup, she began a course with atlantic business college. It is computerized office administration. there should be a job or two at the end of this 5 month course, i'm thinkin'. she already took a short 30 hour upgrading course, and that looks really good on the resume, initiative.  we now have three students in our inner circle, k, her daughter m; who is taking a pet grooming course, and m's bf, j, who is in pursuit of great things in arts and photography.

meanwhile, i still love my job. it is still the best one ever. attitude is everything, in so many things, and i really do love the environment; the guys at work are great, the pay is good, and well, what can i say....i am happy. and in the end that is what is important, right?

in sports...we have been competing in the 'who can drive through slush' races. grossness, the roads were really bad last week as i plodded my way to various locations around our fair city. we have had so much snow, and then the traditional 'january thaw' that it was a real challenge out there. i have also been competing in a muscle building event.....shovelling the freakin driveway. we have had so much snow, like the last time we had a blizzard it was well over 30cms and high winds, big drifts, and generally gross. i am getting really fit this winter, with shovelling. gaining some strength in my arms and back. it is an event i'm tired of competing in, however, we are faced with more soon.

and now the weather. this winter has been a bitch for giving us snow. the snowbanks at the end of our driveway must be over 9 feet high by now. (that is how i am building my muscles from the previous paragraph). in fact, after the third storm, the weather people stated that we already had more snow than we received last winter in total, and we are not done. a cold front moved in, and following that lovely thaw, and rain, we now are back to -22 C not including wind chill. until today, however, when the temperature is to warm up to a balmy -5 and snow....yes, more snow. about another 15-30 cm. did out the shovel, poet, it is time again.

thanks for reading. have a good day, i must get ready for another great day!
