Found me a new car....and other ramblings

,,,so i have been preoccupied with searching for a car to replace WAGN'R. the hyundai dealership was where i wound up. and on monday, i take possession of my new to me, affordable, mid-life-crisis-car. it is a black, 2004 hyundai accent gs. 2dr, 5spd. i tried out other cars for the past 2 weeks, but kept thinking about this particular car, so i guess that is the one for me. that, and other cars were too hard on my back. i am happy about the purchase, now i want it in the driveway. paperwork, fooey.

you know, car shopping can be a real pain in the ass. especially when you work full time, and we are in the winter from hell. storms every other day it seems like. not like you can properly test drive a car when the roads are nearly impassable....a few times 'they' have even taken the city buses off the roads so it must be bad.

we have almost no where to put the snow anymore. the snowbanks are obscenely high, and the roads in our park are humpy and frozen and if you are not careful, bottoming out is a real possibility. the weather is so weird this winter too. -23 c plus windchill one day and then up to 11c and heavy rainfall warnings the next. man, it is real, old fashioned winter this year.

mom is doing well. except she hates the winter too. but she has been purchasing some new furniture to change the look of the house. last month she bought a new dresser for her room, and a beautiful armoire for us. and this month, she decided that a new dining room set and china cabinet fit in her plans. and i am getting the old china cabinet, which i have loved and admired my whole entire life. (how i am going to get it in here i don't know yet). i still wish she would sell that house in the country and buy a home in here where we live. she says she would not like it, and that she would not get out much....um she doesn't get out much now, and actually, with us being closer, she would see us more. but time will tell.

k is doing well in school. she is attending A.B.College in our fair city. she is taking computerized office administration. she is in the accounting phase now. it is difficult but her sister in ontario taught the course, so they speak on the phone frequently when k has a question. it is nice to see.

still with the inner circle of family; k's daughter m just finished a course in dog grooming. she is a hair stylist for people and thought she would broaden her scope to include 4-leggeds, however, it turns out, that is not what she wants to do. on with her search. her bf, j is doing very well in his course, he found his passion of photography and is exceptional.  r is doing very well with his job at the hotel rez centre. top agent in the centre i think he said. that is awesome! k's mom is still in hospital recovering from the major operation. she now has movement in her left hand and arm, but not alot of strength yet. physio department is working on that. time will heal her, and her will to get better will aide in that as well. it was really wonderful that k's sister got k there in january. a true gift.

the cats are their usual, crazy selves. keeping us entertained, and providing many a KODAK moment. i must update my photo page before my card gets full!

i was perving FACEBOOK, and i see that my niece is living in china now. she works for Rolls-Royce and not sure what all she does, but travelling is part of it. she was in england for the last year or 2. and a cousin of mine, who i recently added in my fbook friends is getting married in mexico in three months. mom received the invitation last week, and unfortunately, we are unable to travel that far. but it was really nice to see the invitation as a keepsake.

still with fbook, i created a group for my grad class. it will be 25 years since graduation this june! i am hoping to get in touch with former classmates, and perhaps we can organize an informal reunion. we were not close friends in school, but hey, it has been 25 years, and it sure would be nice to see 'what they are doing now'.

work is still fan-friggin-tastic! even with this winter being the worst in years. i can hardly wait until summer....the job will be a breeze come then. my work car is great, i am getting used to the routine, and it doesn't even seem like i have been there since 27dec/07. this is a career from which i will retire. and that works for me!

all in all, life here in our fair city, and more importantly, my inner circle, is fine. i have been flitting around blogland, and have noticed a lull in posting from more than just myself. must be the mid-winter blahs?

oh i meant to add that i have a milestone to celebrate tomorrow! 5 years clean. yaaay me!

until next time, my faithfuls,,,,,,,,,,,,,poet.

  1. Hey you! Glad you found a new car, car's aren't a necessity in life but they're pretty darn useful :D Especially when they drive and all ;)
Winter, blergh, I'm already tired of the mist all the time now, I don't think I could cope with that much snow. Luckily we don't have such cold winters anymore in Holland, though I do think we'll still get our share of snow somewhere in March/April.
I'm also enjoying my work, so much that I'm starting to wonder whether there is something wrong with me! I actually WANT to go to work, who'd have thought such a thing would be possible??!!!
    Take care!!
