today, i have an appointment with Dan at my new job. he said it was to sign paperwork and negotiate salary. that is a first for me, but i have done a fair bit of research online about how to do that. the position's starting wage is between 22,000-28,000 per anum. i'm thinking that i'm worth the higher end with my relevant experience. cross your fingers, teeth & toes.
this ScribeFire thing is not as easy to use as was Windows LiveWriter. however, updating firefox disabled WLW, so SF it is. of course, if i want more flexibility with font colours and all that, i could log into WP and do it from there. nah, too much bother. like this alright.
i finally found a font that i like though. hoping it won't be too difficult to read online.
i wonder how many of you still stop in to the hideaway? summertime is such a busy time for everyone, i have no doubt the blog traffic is down a bit. i try and get around to my regulars, and have even bookmarked some new reads that i find really interesting.
seth is still with us, as mom is still adjusting to new surroundings. we're easing her into receiving him back. when we are both working full time again, he will need to move back to her. for now, with all the new things going on, he is with us. he is learning simple commands finally; like sit, paw, down, come, drop.
it takes a bit longer because he needs to un-learn the bad behaviour and replace it with the good. one word commands he follows. we praise him lots. he is a good dog and wants to please, he just got away with so much wiith mom in the beginning. the cats are adjusting to his presence as well. pepe even plays with him now. the rest tolerate him. with the at least twice daily walks, we have seen a decrease in his weight and he seems to be calmer. miniature schnauzers tend to be very busy little dogs. seth is no different. high energy is a good term for him. but we are working toward a goal that is within reach now.
k and i have been very busy getting the rural home ready for the open house hosted by the realestate lady. all last week we were cleaning and hauling away crap. yesterday we were done! and the open house was yesterday afternoon. and guess what? not a soul appeared, well except for the next door neighbour who just came over to introduce himself. so now, i guess it is time to lower the price somewhat. i guess mom knew that was going to happen. so did we all. but it will sell, just needs time. as well, our agent really has to push the home. it will not sell itself, not with its location. houses in our fair city, especially in our fair park, sell themselves, because they are new, popular and conveniently located to everything! i was looking on MLS and there are 28 homes for sale in a 25 kms strip of road, and mom's house is among them. lots of competition. however, only about three have the same offerings that mom's house has, like the 4 bedrooms/2 baths, close to 2 acres of landscaped beautiful property. our agent is going to do another analysis of house sales trends in the area, and see waht is selling and for how much,,,how much of a price drop will be needed to get the house sold. here is the link to the real estate website.
meanwhile, still with selling stuff; i have been posting items on the kijiji site. have sold some. we also held 2 successful yard sales. so that is a help. we still have a few large items left, like the pool table and all accessories, and dad's old lowrey organ. we'll keep posting and hoping i guess.
well, i suppose i should get doing something. i need to take seth for a really good walk, and also go up to mom's and water the plants. the park is landscaping in the new part these past few days, and soon the hydroseeder will be there. then i will go up every night to water the soon to be lawn! ah, progress.
mom is settling in really well. when we went out to her rural home on friday, she didn't want to stay, just look around and leave. so that is what we did. she has made up her mind she just wants it to be gone now. i will be sure to take lots of photos of the property with all those beautiful trees and shrubs that she & dad planted and watched grow for 30 years.
