job scene

i like working for Advanis. nice calm at home work. still a bit miffed about the hours though. i received an email from my team supervisor, C, this morning that said the hours for next week are not confirmed yet, but she is working on them. it is going to be as slow next week as it was this week, and that sucks for me because i put in for 36 hrs and got 10. hmph. sooooooooooo, i logged into the scheduler and an announcement there said that november looked to be busy and all interviewers should put in for the hours they want. ok, so i put in my 6 hrs a night for every night that is workable....except for saturdays, sundays and holidays. 30 hrs a week is what i want, i hope that 30 hours a week is what i will receive.

meanwhile, i have been applying to other call centres who are advertising work from home as an option. and i even created a profile with kelly services--wonder what that will do?  i look on the job boards online All.The.Time!  i am 45 years old for heaven's sake. all i want is to have a steady income again without having to go out to do it. is that too much to ask? well, is it?

i get to thinking about the way things used to be, when i first began working. i did lots of shit jobs in my day. let me tell you. i also built a house cleaning business with excellent clients who i miss very much. unfortunately, due to health concerns, i am unable to do that kind of hard work anymore. i guess too many hard years took their toll on this middle aged body. insofar as call center work goes, remember last year? my doc pretty much forbid me to go back into that field due to the migraines, the stress and the scents -- triggering my asthma and allergies.   you see.....getting on 'that' topic again; people do not respect an invisible disability. and as for me, if it was just about itchy eyes or a runny nose, so be it, but no, i get very sick when exposed to chemicals like perfumes, aftershaves, hell one time a guy had to remove his coat and put it in a plastic bag---the culprit -- one of those stinky pine tree air fresheners in the cab that he took to work. yeah...i am THAT sensitive.

if i could have booked cars for avis budget from home i would have been the happiest camper in the whole centre. taking around 200 calls per shift, just doing my job, meeting my metrics and if i could have done it from home, i just would have been so happy. same thing goes for xnet, if i could just do that sort of thing from home.....there would be no stress, because worrying about whether or not someone was going to cause me to wind up going home sick, or land in the ER, well that is a stress i have not got working from home. this is my safe environment. always has been and always will be. but please can someone suggest a company who will accept canadian remote agents, call me an employee, pay me well, provide benefits for drug coverage, dental and vision care, give me a decent bonus for a job well done, oh and at least 37.5 hrs per week please? without working saturdays or sundays.
