Monday Memories.

just trying to get a theme going. we have the Saturday SnapShot, Wordless Wednesday, so why not Monday Memories. let's give it a go, shall we?

i have some really fond memories of when i was a kid in ottawa. there was a group of neighbourhood kids who always played well together. 5 from one family, 3 from another, 2 from two more, and a few of us single kids (no siblings in the group). a herd of kids, you might say. summers were great, we'd travel in a pack, bike riding all over the place, (we'd pack a lunch and our parents would not see us 'til supper time). i recall going to the Experimental Farm, long bike ride, but well worth it to see the black and white cows and go for a ride on the tour wagon with the big horses. there were lots of days when we would just head off on colonel by drive and other trails through the city, a pack of kids ranging in age from 15-9. head over to Mooney's Bay for a swim, or to Hog's Back to sit on the rocks and watch the water falls. Head over to Brookfield Confec(tionary) for pop and chocolate bars, or a bag of chips......and oh my, the ringing of the bells on the Dickie Dee cart. ice cream sandwiches for a quarter.  off to the pool for a swim, flying a kite or 6 in the 'back field'.

i could sit and remember these times all day, but Kane wants his walk, so it is off to killarney again for another 2.2km hike.

make today GREAT~   poet
