we decided we were able to buy a new mini home that spring, and headed to northrup homes in lincoln to speak with L. it was so exciting, choosing cabinets, trims, flooring, counter tops, and fiddling with the design a bit...this room this size, move this wall over here a little bit, add the phone jacks here and here. we could not wait for it to get moved onto the lot we chose.
then finally it was in place, skirted and waiting for us to take ownership. but alas, financing fell through, then it was ok, then, no wait another few weeks. we were so stressed out. our home was sitting waiting for us, OUR Home needed us in it, and we had to wait and wait and wait.
eventually, finally, everything came into being, and on October 31 we moved. i wished we had thought to take some pictures of that w/end, but we were much too busy moving stuff. a 26' u-haul packed tight, and m, r, k and i to move everything in. we were some kinda tired by the end of the day. there were some odds and ends to tidy up at the apartment, but when all was said and done, we were so glad to finally be in. we enjoyed a pizza and pop night when we could finally sit down at a table and relax.
and since then, we have loved this home each day. many a happy memory has been made here. r had moved in with us at apartment #2, and came here for a few years. ( it was a sad day when he moved out, i miss him). our fur family grew and shrunk and grew again. we've watched m meet j and have welcomed j into our family. we now have murphy as part of the family, and kane loves him, and sundays when everyone comes over. we have watched k graduate with honours from not one but two very difficult courses. this home has seen its share of sadness, especially last year, losing mom, and three of our fur babies. all in all, this has been a wonderful place to call home.
we were happy to see a lawn the next spring, and a park stick planted in the front yard. we made a little 4X8 flower bed out front and plant annuals each spring. we chose two blue spruce to plant on either side, and they are doing so well, we added a shed and a deck. all that remains is for the driveway to be paved and it will be complete. (that is for next yr i think, hope).
inside we have painted and hung pictures and paintings. i am so thankful for this home. just felt really thankful today, and wanted to share a little.

ReplyDeleteI, too, love my home and I have busted my butt to hang onto it through a lot of unfortunate circumstances. Some days I think it would be so much easier to have an apartment again, then I remember all I've gone through to be here.
