sometimes life is no walk in the park, and sometimes it is. today we went up for a walk around Killarney Lake with Kane, and this time i remembered the camera!
there was a flock of canada geese, and a flock of ducks floating around the lake today. they are beautiful. we just stood and watched them for a while, taking in their beauty. it is both great to see them, and sad, because they are getting ready to head south for the winter. i hope they all have a safe trip, and look forward to seeing them again come spring.
i love walking on trails. i love looking at the trees. although, looking straight up a huge tree makes me dizzy. i take in the sights and sounds, a few birds chirping here and there, or watching the leaves fall from the trees, like snowflakes falling from the sky. it was a nice walk around the lake today, not too cold, a little breeze, and just an air of calm all around. the smell of the leaves on the damp forest floor, and on the trail reminds me of another time, long ago, when we would rake neighbours' leaves and bag them up for insulation on our tiny forest forts. the smell of fall is the strongest of memory triggers for me, and although sad things happened in autumn, i can choose to think of the happy times, which today, i do.
i love the bright colours of the trees at this time of year, even though i know what it represents. it means that winter is on its way. and even when that happens, we'll still take these walks around the lake, and enjoy the views in a different light, a different season, because beauty is all around us. we have only to choose how to look at things. if we look at it in a negative way, we'll be down and out and depressed. today i choose to view the world in a positive light. after all, i am still here to view it.
enjoy the few pictures we took, and make today GREAT~ poet.
kane took the last picture, i was not quite ready. ha ha .
